WSA - Space Lecture
During this week I attended the WSA lecture on space that was hosted by Seth and had 4 guest speakers who spoke about what the uni is doing about space and the involvement that we could have. Due to my excitement and interest in the topic I spent most of my time listening and not taking many notes however I did take the following notes
-
UK Space economy has grown
-
The UK space sector adds $16 billion to the United Kingdoms GDP
-
The space sector Supports 47,000 jobs and generates an income of £16.5 billion a year
-
The UK space agency is set to grow by over £600 million by 2024-2025
-
One world game: early data scraping practice (1960)
This is about all the information I collected in notes however the section of the talk where we spoke about satellites interested me and helped me to ask the presenters a question about space debris Francis said that the majority of space ventures now are being made with the knowledge of how each of the parts of whatever it may be that they are sending into space is getting back e.g. SpaceX boosters that return to earth.
I also from this lecture emailed one of the presenters so that I could be added to the universities Space mailing list meaning that any other talks or events that the university holds relating to space will be known for me to possibly attend and help further with my research
