Week 1 - Altruism
This page is for the workshop tasks that we did during the first week of this semester. During this week we looked at the idealisms and moralities known as Altruism and Objectivism.
Altruism Definition
Altruism is the selfless or dissented concern with the well-being of others even at the expense of your own feelings.
Objectivism Definition
Objectvism is the pursuit for the self and ones own happiness as the Nobel goal of existence.
Ozymandias Task
For this task we looked at the Poem Called "Ozymandias" written by Percy Shelly which many of us detest due to it featuring as the core poem for our English GCSE's but nonetheless we looked at the poem and dissected it in order to come up with little possible game ideas based around Ozymandias and the concept of altruism.

My Group for this task (Myself, Dylan and Philip) looked at the poem and first wrote the following notes about the poem (image below)
and then we came up with the following concepts:
- Exploration of history
- Being a new ruler/dictator - taking steps to not mess up (altruism vs objectivism main theme)
What I will be taking forward
Although this lecture may not appear to have any connotations and direct links to making a game design I will be taking forward the thinking skills that I have learnt in order too come up with the idea for my essential experience.
