Week 2 (Stoicism)
This week during our workshops we looked at the concept/morality/lifestyle choice known as Stoicisim. Stoicism as defined by google as "an ancient Greek school of philosophy founded at Athens by Zeno of Citium. The school taught that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge; the wise live in harmony with the divine Reason (also identified with Fate and Providence) that governs nature, and are indifferent to the vicissitudes of fortune and to pleasure and pain".

for our workshop task this week we looked at create/designing a character that is a stoic character so a person who is the embodiment of stoicism. My group for this task decided on a non-human character called Aralias who is a elf. In media elf are seen as wise and we felt a wise person would be wise enough to follow the virtues of stoicism.

They are strong, not in a violent way but from training with their wooden staff that they carry not for violence but incase of attack.

They are Calm and graceful to portray how stoic they are as stoics believe in divine harmony and believe in fate so they believe that what happens to them is fate hence the calm and graceful manner in which they present themselves depicted on the right.
Aralius who we decided uses the pronouns they/them is an non-human humanoid elf like lifeform character, as throughout mythology and legend elf are usually seen as wise and stoicism believes that the highest good is based on knowledge so we decided on the character being an elf.

They are also some form of divine being among the elves but it is unknown as to what "divine being" may translate too in reality, maybe they are royalty hence the depictions of the crown above their head in the images below.

They handle most situation that come there way without letting their emotions interfere and cloud their judgement.
Meaning that their staff rarely gets used and is just their for show/or as an assesorie if you will.
They have the ability to make others speak the truth to the best of that persons ability. They use their ability by talking to the person not by talking at the person, as they try their best to never sound pretentious or take over during conversation.
Basically they inspire honesty in others as well as inspire others to be calm and kind just by that person being in their pressence.
What I will be taking Forward
In light of this lecture I have learnt some important skills in how to develop a character design based on a word/philosophy this skill can be used later on to develop characters that portray the them and essential experience of my game idea
